A photography exhibition at Digital Darkroom in Auckland is celebrating the launch of a new PhotoForum website and blog and the inaugural edition of a members' magazine, MoMento.

A photography exhibition at Digital Darkroom in Auckland is celebrating the launch of a new PhotoForum website and blog and the inaugural edition of a members' magazine, MoMento.

PhotoForum Inc is a non-profit organisation that supports the production, exhibition, publication and critical analysis of photo-based media in New Zealand.

The exhibition at Digital Darkroom features work by Amanda A'Hara, Maurice Lye, Richard Smallfield, Howard. M Scott, Mark Watts, Hamish Macdonald, Abby Storey, Stephanie O'Connor, Scott Venning, Richard Clark, Haruhiko Sameshima, Mala Mayo, Julie Downing and John B. Turner. There will be a computer set up in the gallery during the opening function enabling visitors to the exhibition to browse the new PhotoForum website and Blog.

Photoforum's extensive and growing website has updated news service, special features and links, and now, the blog site, which aims to put photographers in touch with the finest work being done around the world. Members of PhotoForum Inc (NZ) have a separate exhibition space for their portfolios or essays and picture and feature files are regularly updated as an important resource for the study of New Zealand photography and photographers.

PhotoForum director John B. Turner invites you to join in now, to comment on published items and to raise issues that are important to you. "With your active involvement we hope to make this forum increasingly relevant to the needs of serious photographic practitioners and the growing audience for our work," said Turner.

PhotoForum was founded by a small group of photographers 30 years ago, primarily to publish PhotoForum magazine as a record of traditions, trends and commentary, aiming also to generally promote the medium through exhibitions, workshops, and lectures.
