Everyday Encounter at Artstation investigates the idea of re-experiencing the ‘everyday’ through painting, photography and sculpture.

Everyday Encounter opens on 26 April and the three artists explore the small shifts in awareness of what we know, see and understand as being ‘everyday’ and how that can encourage new experiences of known sites, memories, spaces and daily encounters.

“My photographs address the viewers’ relationships with this Auckland parkscape light, where space and form begin to alter and shift what is known in the everyday, “says artist Gemma Skipper.

“This series  looks back on a personal history and offers a re-experiencing of time through paint and a shifting awareness of the way we understand and experience time. The act of painting draws connections through time in an attempt at bringing past and present closer - even if just for a fleeting moment,” says artist Lisa Rayner.

“I am making objects that will work with and emphasise what is already in the space of the Artstation gallery. The objects will respond to the various parts of the gallery and allow viewers to re-experience this familiar space, “says artist Ena Kosvac.

All three artists are recent visual art post graduates from AUT and are currently setting up a new art project space in which new and emerging artists can explore, collaborate and develop projects to foster art making.
