EA Gallery, prior to this first official opening, hosted the Salon de Refuse for the 14th Annual Wallace Art Awards.

EA Gallery provides a spacious, cutting edge, central city exhibition space where artists working in all mediums can utilise individual spaces within the gallery with freedom and confidence, supported in being creative and taking pride in the showing of their work.

The Big Bang exhibition features painting by Abbie Read; ceramic sculpture by Anne Hudson; sculpture/ installation by Lang Ea; moving image installation by Sue Gallagher; and photography by Jessica Bluck.

Artists Bio:
Sue Gallagher places a viewer somewhere between submerged and elevated realities, her practice moves somewhere between performance, moving image and architecture. Sue Gallagher has a Masters of Scenography (Distinction) from Central St Martins, London Institute, UK, and a Bachelor of Architecture (first class honors) from University of Auckland, New Zealand where she is currently a Lecturer in Spatial Design at the School of Art & Design, AUT specializing in performance space and other temporal environments. Sue Gallagher is currently the National Co-Curator for the New Zealand exhibition at the Prague Quadrennial 2007, the 11th International Exhibition of Scenography and Theatre Architecture. Performance, installation, video and other scenographic works have been exhibited in the Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Japan, Czech republic, Canada and New Zealand.

Lang Ea graduated with a Bachelor Design in 1997 Co-joint Degree between Victoria University and Wellington Polytechnic. Her work reflects social, political, current events and happenings. Her intention is to inspire the audience to promote and generate public dialogue. She works in photography, sculpture, installation; and moving image, but mainly in painting. She was chosen as a finalist in the 13th Annual Wallace Art Award -travelling show 2004 and a moving image finalist in the Vodafone national digital Arts Award 2005. She is schedule to be part of a New Zealand group exhibition being her first international show in Sydney early 2006.

Anne Hudson lives in Auckland and is currently studying towards a Diploma of Ceramics from Otago Polytechnic. She has worked as potter and taught ceramics for many years while resident in Dubai, U.A.E. She has exhibited at the Dubai International Art Society, the Maglis Gallery (Dubai), The Auckland Studio Potters Annual Exhibitions and the Waiheke Gallery Innovative Ceramics Exhibition. Her work is the result of an aesthetic response to the environment, but also examines the potential and limits of ceramic materials.

A Londoner by birth, she moved body, soul and piles of art books to New Zealand in 2001. She has a BA degree in design from Leeds University, York and expects to graduate this December with a BFA in Fine Arts from Whitecliffe College, Auckland.

Jessica Bluck started taking photos at 16, then went on to do a degree in commercial photography in order to master the technical aspects of the medium. A career in commercial photography didn't interest her but documentary did, and she used this to develop her own style of portraiture. She then went on to do a degree in Fine Arts at Elam University in Auckland, where she focused on documenting teenagers and their connection to the dramatic New Zealand landscape.
