The story of a man who became a 'living work of art', Being Billy Apple tracks the artist's life from boyhood to brand. Born Barry Bates, he rebranded himself in 1962 and moved to New York in the mid-60s where he took part in a ground-breaking Pop Art exhibition which featured Roy Lichenstein and Andy Warhol.
