Creative New Zealand is offering a Writers' Fellowship valued at $100,000, as a result of the additional allocation for the support of authors and literature announced by the government in May 2002. This fellowship was offered for the first time in 2003, and has been renamed in recognition of the late Dr Michael King, his contribution to literature and his role in advocating for a major fellowship for New Zealand writers.
Senior New Zealand writers are encouraged to apply.
The Creative New Zealand Michael King Writers' Fellowship will be awarded for a project that will take two years or more to complete and is open to established authors who have already published a significant body of work. It is open to all genres and non-fiction projects are welcomed.
