Artist Regan Gentry has revealed his design for Christchurch's new permanent sculpture in Stewart Plaza.

The sculpture has been commissioned by the Art & Industry Biennial Trust and will be made public in September, at the beginning of the SCAPE 2008 Christchurch Biennial of Art in Public Space exhibition (September 19 to November 2).Artist Regan Gentry has revealed his design for Christchurch's new permanent sculpture in Stewart Plaza.

The sculpture has been commissioned by the Art & Industry Biennial Trust and will be made public in September, at the beginning of the SCAPE 2008 Christchurch Biennial of Art in Public Space exhibition (September 19 to November 2).SCAPE 2008 is the fifth biennial of art in public space, with the theme this year of "Wandering Lines: Towards a New Culture of Space".

It will see the temporary placement of several major artworks around the city, by 25 artists from 15 countries.

The sculpture at Stewart Plaza, on the corner of Colombo and Hereford Streets, will be the seventh permanent artwork to be gifted to Christchurch by the Art & Industry Biennial Trust.

Work is expected to begin on site preparations from August 11 2008.
