Many events in Christchurch have been cancelled or postponed following the earthquake on February 22, including the 6th SCAPE Christchurch Biennial of Art in Public Space.

SCAPE had already been rescheduled after the 2010 event was postponed, following the earthquake on September 4.  SCAPE 2011 planned to highlight the role artists’ projects can contribute to discussions about urban regeneration as a result of the 2010 earthquake.

SCAPE: SCAPE will not be going ahead as planned, 4 March – 17 April. The Trust and SCAPE Team will meet to discuss the future of SCAPE once the city has settled and begun the difficult healing process.

The 2011 Ellerslie International Flower Show:  As a result of the earthquake and due to the extensive damage of the show site, a decision has been made to cancel the March 2011 show.

The Christchurch Symphony Orchestra’s next two concerts, Lamb & Hayward Masterwork Zuccarini conducts Brahms and the Cathedral series Symphonic Sundays I have been cancelled.

The Christchurch Arts Festival Trust does not have access to their premises. The state of their performance venues in Christchurch is unknown but their programme for August 2011 is likely to be affected.

Court Theatre Midnight in Moscow season has been disrupted.

Book Month (March) activities for Christchurch will be affected.

Downstage (Wellington) have cancelled their season of Love You Approximately to allow The Clinic Performance Company to return to Christchurch to be with their families.

Farmers' Market at the Arts Centre said on Facebook that The Arts Centre including the Markets are closed until further notice. "We cannot access the site, and we cannot remotely access our computers so have no contact details. We expect to be in contact via email later next week. Until then I pray that you are all safe and well."

Lyttelton Summer Festival, due to be held on Saturday 26 February, was not going ahead. Organisers said "there will be a small gathering but it is for the Lyttelton community to get together and connect at this very difficult and sad time. It is certainly no longer a public event."
