#1 Flip Flop
Lady Gaga's Poker Face10-week #1 Singles Chart streak is over.
After waiting patiently in the runners-up slot, her fellow countryman Jason Mraz finally takes top honours, landing his first New Zealand #1 single with I'm Yours.
Not to be outdone, however, Joanne Stefani Germanotta bumps Jason in the airplay arena, claiming the top slot on the RadioScope100.Mraz's We Dance, We Sing, We Steal Thing album also bounds 11 places to #9 as well. The album is up for the Best Engineered Album, Non Classical Grammy, while the new #1 single is up for two gongs - Song Of The Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance at the 51st Grammy Awards in February.
It's a very good week for Ms Gaga too. The Fame moves to an all-time high on the Albums Chart, inching up to #2 in its 16th week.
She may have relinquished the Singles crown but her follow up Eh Eh (Nothing Else Can I Say) is fresh in the anchor position. Its #40 placing gives Lady Gaga a third consecutive hit. Debut hit and current UK chart-topper Just Dance inches back up two places to #25.
Billy Still Rules
Billy T James makes it a sixth straight frame with the now four-times-platinum The Comic Genius of Billy T James, on the Albums Chart. Sales have slowed significantly since the pre-Christmas boom.
This year's Big Day Out sales winner is Canadian veteran rocker Neil Young. His re-activated Greatest Hits makes a 15-place leap to #15, the biggest of the week.
Elsewhere two former self-titled local chart-toppers drop back in - the Flight Of The Conchords at #37 and KORA at #40.
The New Singles
#26 TI featuring Justin Timberlake - Dead And Gone
Just over two years and two months back TI featured on one of Justin Timberlake's three chart-topping singles that year, My Love. Now Justin returns the favour by featuring on TI's Dead And Gone. It lifts Timberlake's hit tally to 15, while TI has his seventh time in our Top40. It's the third track to be culled from his second and highest charting release Paper Trails which moves back up to #33.
#40 Lady Gaga - Eh Eh (Nothing Else Can I Say)
See story above.
The New Album
#24 Seal - Soul
Seal first charted 18 years back in 1991. His triple-platinum #6 self-titled debut yielding #8 hit Crazy (not to be confused with the Gnarls Barkley #1). Since then he's had 12 hits and six chart albums, the last being 2005's #7 Best Of 1994-2004. Now Seal Henry Olusegun Kwassi Olumide Adelo Samuel presents his takes on some soul classics. The aptly titled Soul is the sole new Albums entry this week at #24.
