Auckland's cosmopolitan quarter turns on the lights, sounds and styles for a grand city christmas party. The city's most urbane district is proud to announce a new programme of entertainment and culture launching on November 30, when 16,420 lights are 'switched on' at Chancery in a spectacle to rival the famous Franklin road fairy lights. The city's most urbane district is proud to announce a new programme of entertainment and culture launching on November 30, when 16,420 lights are 'switched on' at Chancery in a spectacle to rival the famous Franklin road fairy lights.An action packed evening kicks off at 6pm when acclaimed Hatitian musician and producer Maya takes the stage for a four hour programme of live music that draws on the urbane grooves that has seen this artist on the same billng as Snoop Dogg, Audioslave, Brother J and James Brown.

Famed for her extensive background in the fashion and modeling industry, Catwalk Studios director Amanda Dorcil will direct a free public fashion show that sees some of NZ's upcoming catwalk talent modeling the couture of the Chancery on the tabletop runway, in a spectacular showcase that builds to the main event; when the lights are turned on just after sundown. One of Aucklands most respected celebrities will be on hand to 'flick the switch', drowning the whole Chancery area in glittering light. Following the Launch the Chancery will have their best Christmas shop windows on display with a special prize giving lunchtime party on 21st December.
