Creative New Zealand in partnership with the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology (MoRST) is calling for project proposals to the 2009-2011 Smash Palace Fund.

The Smash Palace Fund is designed to support collaborative projects between New Zealand artists and scientists. The aim is to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and expertise across arts and science disciplines.Creative New Zealand in partnership with the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology (MoRST) is calling for project proposals to the 2009-2011 Smash Palace Fund.

The Smash Palace Fund is designed to support collaborative projects between New Zealand artists and scientists. The aim is to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and expertise across arts and science disciplines.The $800,000 Fund is to be distributed over the 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11 financial years.

The Smash Palace Fund is to support team projects that:

  • Research, explore, develop and test new ideas, products, services, processes and/or techniques
  • Extend or cross the boundaries of the disciplines and/or fields of the collaborating parties
  • Focus on tangible outcomes
  • Have the potential to engage the wider New Zealand community with the arts and sciences
  • Provide opportunities for new development at the interface between science and the arts to enrich New Zealand's innovative capacity.

    To be eligible for support from the Smash Palace Fund a team comprising at least one artist and at least one scientist must submit a written expression of interest to CNZ by no later than 5pm on Friday 17 April, 2009.
