As a school holiday special we hear from Piggy, aka Patrick Graham, from Australian children’s theatre company Windmill.  Ask Piggy your questions for the chance to win a family pass to Boom Bah! in Auckland.

Kids, you can ask Piggy anything from his favourite song to his favourite food.  Big kids, or children’s entertainers are welcome to ask him about children’s theatre – but remember to keep it kid friendly.

Boom Bah! is a picture book story brought to life through puppetry, theatre and live music. The show has been created especially for 1 to 5 year olds. The production is full of rhythmic language and music – a great way for children to enter into a visual, physical and creative world.

Boom Bah! is at Limelight at the Aotea Centre, from July 15 - 19, as part of Time Out Theatre for Children at The Edge ®.

During what hours of the day do you feel most inspired?

Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon (High) tea, Dinner, Late night snack.

How would a good friend describe your style?

Pleasantly plump

What aspect of your creative practice gives you the biggest thrill?

That I can make music from almost anything. Lids, cups, spoons, sticks, even marshmallows and hot dogs sound rumbly in my belly!

How does your environment affect your work?

My animal mates inspire me to greater musical triumphs every day.

Do you like to look at the big picture or focus on the details?

I just take it one cup cake at a time.

What's your number one tip for surviving (and thriving) in the creative industries? 

Dare to stand alone, and always be playful.

Which of your projects to date has given you the most satisfaction?

Managing to hang out the washing and only getting a little bit of mud on it.

Who or what has inspired you recently?

That charming, intelligent, vivacious, gregarious little brown mouse.

If you could go back and choose a completely different career path to the one you've chosen, what would it be?

Food taster.

What place is always with you, wherever you go?

Boom Bah cubby house.

You are given a piece of string, a stick and some fabric. What do you make?

A hammock to kick back in and relax, relax, relax!

What’s your big idea for 2009?
Lose a couple of kilos.

Patrick Graham
Patrick is a graduate of the Centre for Performing Arts, now ACArts (Adelaide Centre for the Arts). Since graduating he has worked as a freelance actor and company member of Floogle Theatre Company. For Floogle he has appeared in One Long Night in the Land of Nod (Best New Play 2005 Advertiser Award), Black Crow Lullabies (Best original work 2008 Adelaide Fringe Awards) and The Homecoming where he received an Oscart Award (Actor on the Rise) for his portrayal of Lenny.

Patrick’s State Theatre credits include Lion Pig Lion, Young Guns and The Cripple of Inishmaan. TV credits include Blue Heelers, Stingers, Fergus McPhail and McLeod’s Daughters. For Windmill, Patrick has recently appeared in The Wizard of Oz as The Tin Man.
