The adventurous cover belongs to the long awaited book by award winning photographer Skip Wastemaster. Made from recycled pizza boxes, the book also includes a CD soundscape of seagull cries.

Skip was awarded Envirotographer of the Year in 2007 and his new book The Natural Magic of New Zealand's Landfills is a celebration of this country's most picturesque and often overlooked refuse stations. Packed with Skip's characteristic brooding and iconic images, the diversity of our rubbish dumps are illustrated for all to enjoy.

The Natural Magic of New Zealand's Landfills by Skip Wastemaster is only available from web-based retailer New Zealand Books Abroad as part of a special promotion for New Zealand Book Month.

Visitors to NZ Books Abroad during September are invited to enter a competition to win more than $1,300 worth of real New Zealand books by spotting four others like this one.

Introducing New Zealand Books Abroad Ltd

New Zealand Books Abroad is a web-based seller of quality New Zealand published books to the world. The company was established in 1995.

Our webshop has thousands of annotated books and CDs. The entries are chosen from the lists of over 200 publishers. Some may publish only a few titles but, if they are important, we'd like the world to know about them.

Overseas customers include homesick ex-pats, New Zealand companies and government agencies, international rugby fans who want anything about our favourite sport, private and public libraries, book clubs, NZ Studies groups, international schools €” and anyone interested in what makes New Zealand unique.

Our three most popular categories are Maoritanga, natural history and literature. People overseas are learning te reo Maori, and finding out about our myths, legends and history, often in preparation for a visit. Our flora and fauna are unusual, so guides are popular. Novels with New Zealand content are popular with readers who enjoy finding out about a country through fiction.

And, increasingly, we sell books at home too. New Zealanders are very savvy at buying online and sadly not all of the country has 'real' bookshops any more. We are filling a big gap and we're delighted with the response from readers all around the country.

Louise Wrightson, the owner, looks after marketing and communications. Jane Harris is the customer services manager, and 'web curator'. David Russell is the development manager and Dave Hanson works tirelessly on our website.

We're often asked about our company logo. The horoweka (lancewood) leaves are the inspiration of talented book designer and artist Sarah Maxey. They are an appropriate choice as our lovely office at Otari-Wilton, in Wellington, looks out over 80 hectares of original native bush.
