Black Grace has become internationally renowned for its artistry, creative excellence, innovation and as a leading exponent of Pacific contemporary dance. During March and April 2008 Black Grace will be performing a coast-to-coast tour of North America.
Black Grace has become internationally renowned for its artistry, creative excellence, innovation and as a leading exponent of Pacific contemporary dance.In 2004/2005 Black Grace performed to great acclaim in New York and at Jacobs Pillow. Following on from this success, Black Grace has returned to tour 11 centres across the United States and Canada.
The North American tour programme is a collection of dance pieces choreographed by Neil Ieremia for Black Grace over the last 10 years.
The repertoire includes; Minoi, a signature work based on the fusion of Samoan and western contemporary dance styles, Method, which was originally commissioned by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in 1999 and set to the music of J. S. Bach and Human Language, a provocative work examining the physical language that exists between men and women.
As well as complete works this programme also includes excerpts from major full-length works; including Surface (2003) and Amata (2007).
