This is to regretfully advise due to recent enquiries that the Auckland Society of the Arts is no longer a registered organisation. This is to regretfully advise due to recent enquiries that the Auckland Society of the Arts is no longer a registered organisation.Due to the financial implications of the extended lease on the former Gallery in Lorne Street the Society is no longer able to continue its operations.This was made clear by the fact that only 5 people attended the final meeting of the ASA in which it was concluded that we should wrap up the organisation. We were able to extract ourselves from the lease with the Krukzeiners without becoming insolvent however there was only limited revenue left over and not enough to sustain the ASA exhibition facility in another more affordable location. The archives for the organisation are now held by the Auckland Museum and the final funds of around $8000 are to be donated to the Museum to help them with their archival processing. If anybody would like to get involved with an oral history project of the organisation then they should contact the Museum.
