Auckland City Council is establishing an Advisory Panel for Public Art to provide expert advice on developing council's public art programme and public art projects.

The formation of the panel is part of its new public art policy. The aim of the policy is to improve the quality of public art in our city, create a dedicated fund for public art works, and make it easier for people to work with council to deliver high quality public art.Nominations are now open for individuals with the necessary skills and commitment to join an advisory panel to help deliver the public art policy.

"The council is committed to making the city a place where art is available to everyone," says Chairperson of the Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee Councillor Greg Moyle. "We want to ensure that we have the right people to make the right choices about public art," Mr Moyle says.

The panel will provide of relevant expertise and will work with the council's public art manager and stakeholders to increase public awareness and to increase confidence in its public art programme.

Mr Moyle added, "We would like the members of the panel to act as ambassadors and advocates for quality public art in the city, to maintain effective relationships with the Auckland arts sector while also identifying opportunities for collaborations or funding partnerships."
