The Arts.Biz workshops at Artstation take you through the basics of everything you need to know to start or improve your own arts business: planning, accounting, legal, marketing, media, pricing…we translate the jargon into common sense!

Workshops are friendly and relaxed, facilitated by experts in their fields: Dr Suzette Major, international speaker & author on arts marketing; Lynne Wilkins, Raglan/Auckland based chartered accountant and professional musician; and Anna Connell, partnerships manager for the Auckland Theatre Company and career management expert.

This course is a series of eight workshops, each covering different topics on the business of art. Each workshop runs from 10am to 4pm on the third Sunday of every month, starting on Sunday 19 April 2009. The last workshop is on 15 November.

As each workshop builds on previous work, we encourage participants to enrol for the whole series.

Cost

  • Series of 10 day-long workshops: $680
  • Workshop costs are tax deductable! (come to Workshop 3 to find out how J)

 Beyond the information and practical advice offered in relation to each of the topics, the workshops also offer artists the opportunity to network and develop self confidence in their work and career choice.

Workshops are interactive, and participants are given a series of in-class and take-home exercises designed to further their understanding of the business of being an artist.
