The Wellington film post-production company, Park Road Post, established by Peter Jackson and completed in 2005 is moving into a self-sufficient future as a provider of world-class film post production services.

To build on its Oscar-winning reputation, the company has appointed General Manager Aimee McCammon, former Saatchi & Saatchi...group account director fresh from international marketing triumphs including the New York launch of 42 Below.

Her appointment is indicative of the company ¹s commitment to outward-looking change. As a young woman from outside the film facilities industry, she brings a fresh approach coupled with US advertising and marketing experience, which also includes work with world-renowned strategic marketing
pioneers Procter & Gamble.

McCammon ¹s brief is to increase international business for the facility, particularly from US film producers but also Asia and Australia, while also continuing to be a powerful supporter of the New Zealand film industry.

"We are also really keen to do more television commercial work in New Zealand because for us, today's TVC directors are tomorrow ¹s feature film directors," McCammon says. "We enjoy the level of experimentation with TVC work. They push the boundaries of innovation and keep us on the ball because they need fast turnaround services."

Her background in creative advertising will be as important as the marketing side. "The most important thing to us is the work that goes out the door. We will do everything in our power to enable the director to do the most creative work. That's the same as in the advertising industry."

In keeping with its goal of maximising creativity and setting new standards, Park Road Post has recently installed a Pablo 4K, Quantel ¹s next generation non-linear colour correction system. The new Albrecht LLK4 laser sound negative camera means film sound post production can now be fully completed
in New Zealand making Park Road Post truly a "one-stop shop".

In creating Park Road Post, Peter Jackson made the kind of facility needed by film makers, a creatively fertile and stress-free environment designed for comfort and wellbeing, the essence of the company slogan "by film-makers
for film-makers".

Park Road Post's role in the New Zealand film industry was demonstrated at the 2006 New Zealand Screen Awards. The company was involved with 14 of the total of 19 film awards presented.

The prize haul for the big winner, Roger Donaldson's iconic The World's Fastest Indian, included the award for Sound Post Contribution to a Soundtrack won by Park Road Post's Senior Mixer Mike Hedges and freelance Sound Designer Tim Prebble with freelance Mixer Gethin Creagh.

Park Road Post provided post-production services for Toa Fraser's No 2 and the winning short films Nature's Way and Dead Letters. Park Road Post's Mike Hedges teamed with Polly McKinnon and Melanie Graham to win the award for
Television: Contribution to a Soundtrack for the Gaylene Preston documentary Earthquake.

This recent success is part of an award-winning track record that illustrates the far-reaching effects of Jackson's decision to base the production of his blockbuster films in New Zealand and to build the infrastructure necessary to enable their creation. The facilities are available to the New Zealand film industry and have successfully provided quality post-production services to local and international films and
television programmes.

Robert Sarkies' new film Out of the Blue, which recently premiered at the Toronto Film Festival was fully post-produced at Park Road Post ­ services ranging from daily processing of film as it was shot, through to picture and
sound editing facilities and services, sound mixing and production of final prints. The two upcoming comedy features, Black Sheep, by Jonathan King and Eagle vs Shark by Taika Waititi, were also fully post produced at Park Road
Post.

International films that have used the Wellington-based facility this year include Walden Media's Bridge to Terabithia, The Waterhorse, and Warner Bros 10,000BC. Previous work has included Boogeyman and, of course, King Kong and Lord of the Rings.
