Artstation's latest offering is a painting exhibition by Genevieve Gummer and Katherine Powell, on show from 12 to 22 November.

The exhibition presents two distinct approaches to exploring abstraction that are united in their ability to engage the viewer. Ms Powell explores abstraction through maps and landscape, while Ms Gummer's paintings are based around the senses. The exhibition presents two distinct approaches to exploring abstraction that are united in their ability to engage the viewer. Ms Powell explores abstraction through maps and landscape, while Ms Gummer's paintings are based around the senses."My paintings start from the senses and work with the sensory. I use abstraction as a visual medium for describing experiences and imagery," she says.

Both artists are also art teachers, Ms Powell is head of the arts faculty at Corran School and Ms Gummer has taught at Hungry Creek Art and Craft School and community centres on the North Shore.

"Exhibiting together at Artstation is an opportunity to consolidate our own practice and in turn create and share discussion about painting with a diverse audience," says Ms Powell.

Artstation, Auckland City's community visual arts facility, is located at the old police barracks at 1 Ponsonby Rd, Newton. It is easy to get to by public transport with the Link's Artstation bus stop right outside.
