Everyone's favourite furry red toddler comes to Auckland and Christchurch this week with Elmo’s World Tour.  The show is aimed at toddlers upwards and promises counting, alphabets, travel and lots of singing and dancing.  Renee Liang secured an interview (no tickling required).

* * *

How old are you?

Elmo is three and a half!

What do you enjoy about travelling the world? What do you do to prepare or the different customs and people you will meet?

Elmo loves travelling the world and learning how to sing and dance and say hello in different places!

Is this your first time visiting NZ? What are you most excited to experience?

Elmo has been to New Zealand before and Elmo loves it. But, this is the first time Elmo has visited with all his friends: Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Grover, The Count, Abby Cadabby, Zoe, Bert and Ernie! Elmo can't wait to check out New Zealand again with all of Elmo's friends!

You have such a diverse bunch of friends. Do you have any tips for getting along and what to do if someone is sad?

Elmo is friends with a bird, some monsters, humans, and even a grouch. Just don't tell Oscar that Elmo said that!  Elmo thinks laughing is good - it makes Elmo feel happy, and it makes Elmo's friends happy too.

What is your favourite way of learning something?

Elmo thinks a good way to learn something is to make a song about it. Songs are fun, and songs always seem to stick in Elmo's head. That makes remembering something easy!

How do you get so good at singing and dancing?

Practise of course! Although sometimes Elmo needs to use his imagination.

If you could pick anywhere in the world to be, what would be that place?

On Sesame Street of course! Elmo just loves hanging out with all of Elmo's friends on Sesame Street. Elmo loves to play the piano and dance, and sometimes, Elmo also goes roller-skating with Big Bird.
