Four dance works, united by extreme physicality and dramatic theatrics.

Katie Burton, Mariana Rinaldi, Julia Milsom and Paul Young bring their miscellaneous choreographic talents from Auckland, Christchurch, Kaikoura and Argentina together to present 3 Kiwi's and a Spic at the Dunedin Fringe Festival 2008.3 Kiwi's and a Spic promises to be an evening of New Zealand dance at its best. The season runs from the 2nd - 5th April at the Mary Hopewell Theatre, 8.30pm.

Katie Burton (Winner Best Dance Fringe 07) presents her work 'Scuttle' as the opening work of the programme. 'Scuttle' creates an intriguing world where dancers scurry through space, responding to elusive light and sound with intricate dance routines. "I hope the audience will be drawn into the abstract and curious world I've created." says Burton.

Mariana Rinaldi presents her work 'exilio'. An attentively designed and theatrical work, 'exilio' explores the personal experience of Rinaldi's migration from Argentina to New Zealand. The dancers move in a wild and chaotic way, representing the mental alienation of culture clash. "I'm thrilled to be presenting 'exilio' as my professional choreographic debut." says Rinaldi.

Julia Milsom presents a duet entitled 'Locked'. Originally a short story, 'Locked' creates masks with the body and applies adagio balance in a contemporary dance context. Dark humoured metaphors explore the balancing act of male and femaleness within ourselves, and the strategies we use to maintain or tip the balance in our own relationships.

'Bones' is the tongue in cheek title of a duet choreographed by Paul Young (NZ Male Contemporary Dancer of the Year 2006). The work is made up of five vignettes each devised around a clear spatial task, which is then built from a simple pattern to a complex negotiation of interpersonal space.

The choreographers are joined onstage by dancers Geoff Gilson (Sean Curham, Malia Johnston, Guy Ryan) and Lucy Miles (Back-Lit Productions)). Musicians Sally Nicholas, Josh Tilsley, Joaquin Segade and Andrew McMillan have all composed original music for the show.
